The last of the spring carrots

Photobucket

I'm going to put some more in the ground at the end of next month, but for now, this is the end of the carrots. I didn't freeze any, we just ate them as they came out of the ground and they were amazing. Bright vibrant colors and sweet as sugar.

I planted my carrots at the end of May and while they have nice tops, they are not very...carroty on the bottom. Am I doing something wrong or do I just need to keep waiting?

My tomatoes are doing ok but they are not exactly bountiful yet. Cucumbers are growing. I have zucchini that blossoms but then fizzles.

And I have eggplant plants that seem happy but aren't doing anything.

I just suck at this.

We just sprayed on some fish emulsion and we have been adding in compost we made but my garden is mediocre.

I am frustrated.

Beth it takes a LONG time for carrots to mature. You have an excellent climate for it since it doesn't normally get super hot there either. I would let them grow for at LEAST six more weeks before you check again. Give the tomatoes some time, they take a while and we live in such a hot place tomatoes go nuts!
